Has there ever been a time in your life where you have thought, 'Oh no! What have I just done?' I think we have all been in the situation where we have done something and immediately regretted doing it. Do you know if you think that you regret it, how much the Lord does not really like that you have done it? There was a time in the Bible where God says that He regrets choosing someone for a task that was not completed because of disobedience. Looking at 1 Samuel, God has chosen Saul to be king over Israel. God had told Saul to smite the Amalek and destroy all that they have, but Saul had something else in mind. He smote the people, but kept the peoples sheep, oxen, fatlings, and lambs. Saul did not complete disobey the Lord, but he did not completely obey Him either.
Partially obeying is still disobedience.
The Word goes on to say, "Then came the word of the Lord unto Samuel, saying, It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king..." (1 Samuel 15: 10-11, KJV) The Lord regretted choosing Saul because of His disobedience. This is HUGE. This is FRIGHTENING. This is SORROWFUL. We have all felt the disappointment of someone we love, just think how mush worse that would be to the LORD. Obeying Him in everything is all that He asks of us. Do not let something small come in the way of obtaining the fullness of His joy. He does not want to regret choosing you. He has obtained you for a purpose, for HIS purpose. For all that He has done, He simply asks us to listen, to follow, to obey.
